Do not attempt to adjust your television set…

And, just in case you're wondering, that's not an actual witness photo....

Let me just start by saying that I’m sorry I’ve been away so long. It’s been so busy with a couple of my ongoing projects that I just haven’t had time for the “fun” writing of a personal nature.

But, I’m back for now, even though this post will likely be short.

Today in the news (and my Google alerts) I was greeted by the headline that a possible UFO was sighted about a mile from my house on the shores of Lake Superior. It, apparently, was silver and shaped like a small B2 Stealth Bomber. It hovered near a place called Picnic Rocks (don’t go swimming there) and then zoomed away.

Honest. There were witnesses, according to TV6’s website (and, likely, others, though I have no intention of looking). A father and a son, to be exact.

And, you may ask, what other details were available to help convince us that this story is a reality? Well, either the father or the son decided, at that particular moment, to look at their watch so they could remember the slice of time in which their lives changed. The time? 4:20 p.m.

I kid you not.

And the news station reported it. And printed it on the web. The first comment? “4:20. Case solved.”

I tend to agree.

Perhaps the “news” gatherers of TV6 should take a moment to consider what they’re “reporting” on before airing it.

Next thing you know, they’ll be mentioning that a witness in the psych ward at Marquette General Hospital saw the ghost of Abraham Lincoln dancing outside his room, bullet hole and all.

Why not? If there’s a witness, it’s got to be newsworthy, right? It is if you’re TV6, apparently.

OH GOD! They should be ashamed.

All the news that’s not fit to print.
